Louise Swaringen, 82, of Albemarle, died Feb. 21, 2014

Tuesday, February 25, 2014 — Louise Simpson Swaringen, 82 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at Spring Arbor of Albemarle, where she had been a resident for more than three years.

Mrs. Swaringen was born September 17, 1931, in South Carolina, to the late Walter Harvey Simpson Sr. and the late Mary Charlotte Byrd Simpson.

She was married to her childhood sweetheart for 55 years, James Paul “J.P.” Swaringen Jr., who preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Louise Swaringen; brothers, Walter Simpson Jr. and H.D. Byrd; and sister, Hattie Jo Beauchamp.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Ron Honeycutt. Burial will follow at the Anderson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 2225 E. Main St., Albemarle.

Survivors include daughters, Brenda (Douglas) Drye of Marietta, Ga., Bobbie (Ronnie) Dennis of Albemarle and Sandra (Mitchell) Baldwin of Peyton, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

“Miss Louise” will long be remembered as the loving caregiver for many children at her home daycare, Swaringen’s Nursery, for more than 30 years.
