William Ross, of Richfield, a U.S. Army WWII Veteran, passed away at age 86

Thursday, November 14, 2013 — William Daniel Ross, age 86, of Richfield, N.C., died at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013, in Universal Healthcare, Concord, N.C.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013, at Kendalls Baptist Church, New London, N.C. Rev. Keith Walters and Rev. Christian Herring will officiate and burial will be in Kendalls Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team.

The family received friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle, on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the hour of the service.

Born December 14, 1926, in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late Edmond Orestes and Rebecca Deese Ross.

He was a retired employee of Collins & Aikman Corp. He was also a Distributor of Pet Milk Products for over 30 years.

He was a member of Kendalls Baptist Church and veteran of the U.S. Army in WWII.

Mr. Ross was married to the late Kathryn Caudle Ross who preceded him in death November 23, 2008.

Survivors include one son, Mike Ross and wife Joyce of Richfield, N.C.; one daughter, Kathy R. Gledhill and husband Terry of Concord, N.C.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, Curtis Ross, Clyde Ross, Herman Ross and Warren Ross and four sisters, Godie Thomas, Viola Ross, Ramelle Huneycutt and Wilma Lambert all preceded him in death.

Stanly Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
