Henry Farmer, 80, of Albemarle, a U.S. Army veteran, also served on several boards

Sunday, September 22, 2013 — Henry Eli Farmer Sr., 80, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013, in his home.  

His service was at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle, with Rev. Mitchell Cook officiating. Burial followed in Stanly Gardens of Memory, Albemarle.  

Born May 30, 1933, in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late William Henry Farmer and Mary Morton Farmer.  

He was the owner and operator of Metric Chemical Company in Albemarle.  Mr. Farmer was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves having retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He served on many boards including the Pfeiffer University Board, Uwharrie Capital Corporation Board and the First Union Bank Community Board.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Honeycutt Farmer.  

Survivors include sons Henry E. Farmer Jr. of Albemarle and David K. Farmer and wife Elissa of Concord; sisters, Ruby Rhodes of New Jersey and Nancy Almond of Albemarle; and three grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
