Thursday, June 20, 2013 — ASHEBORO – Mrs. Jerry Lee Whitley Walker, 96, of Asheboro, N.C., died Monday, June 17, 2013, at her residence.
A funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Back Creek Friends Meeting with Rev. Jon Reece and Rev. Harold Salmon officiating. Burial followed in the meeting cemetery.
A native of Stanly County, N.C., Mrs. Walker was born February 22, 1917. She was the daughter of the late William Cornelius Whitley and Flora Crowell Whitley.
Mrs. Walker was a homemaker who enjoyed needlework and mowing the yard. She was a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting, a Sunday school teacher and served in various other ministries at the meeting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Walker; and son, Eddie Walker.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughters, Bonnie W. Parks and husband Pete of Asheboro, N.C. and Kay W. Brawley and husband Bobby of Statesville, N.C.; grandchildren, Donna Hamilton, Sherry Vann, Christie Wilson, Jeffery Walker, Lauren Stokes and Stephanie Josey; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall and other times at the home.
