Genevieve Ewing Fesperman, 88, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Stanly Manor Nursing Center after several months of declining health.
Her funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Peter Fitzgibbons officiating and burial followed in Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle. The family received friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Born September 17, 1924, in Cabarrus County, N.C., she was the adopted daughter of the late Joseph Eugene and Tempe Berry Ewing.
Mrs. Fesperman was the longest standing member of Annunciation Catholic Church where she was very active as Eucharistic Minister, member of Parish Council, Daughters of Mary and The Forever Young Club.
Genevieve was also a long time member of the Democratic Women where she was very active in the Democratic Party and worked for the Board of Elections.
She served as a member of the American Legion and the Board of Directors of the Stanly County Fair Association and worked along side of her husband as managers of the Stanly County Fair for a number of years.
She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.
Mrs. Fesperman was preceded in death by her husband, John Max Fesperman and all of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Mauldin and husband Eddie of Albemarle; two sons, John Fesperman of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Tim Fesperman and wife Donna of Locust; five granddaughters, Leigh Ann Johnson and husband Kevin, Erin Dry and husband Jonathan, Lauren Griffin and husband Daniel, Lynn Thomas and husband Clint and Theresa Hoch and husband Matthew; nine great-grandchildren, Logan and Luke Johnson, Colby and Max Dry, Addison and Davis Griffin and Hannah, Sofie and Zachary Hoch.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001 or Annunciation Catholic Church, 416 N. Second St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
