Connie Payne, 63, of Rockwell, died Oct. 22, 2013


Thursday, October 24, 2013 — Connie Burleson Payne, 63, of Rockwell, passed away at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.  

Connie was born in Stanly County on September 7, 1950, to the late James McDonald Burleson and Mildred Price Burleson.

Mrs. Payne attended West Stanly High School and worked for Granite Knitwear and Perfect Fit as a seamstress. She later obtained her CNA certification.

A member of Canton Baptist Church in Albemarle, Mrs. Payne attended West Park Baptist Church in Rockwell. She enjoyed family outings and time with friends.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Burleson; and sister, Ginger Huneycutt.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Edward Payne who she married on June 7, 1986; son, David Bryan Huneycutt and fiancé Lisa Bridges of Enochville; daughters, Tara Stanley and husband Eric of Enochville and Karen Templeton of Rockwell; step-daughter, Barbara Hartle of Granite Quarry; brother, Jimmy Burleson of Locust; sister, Malia Lowder of New London; grandchildren, Brandon, Sabrina and Bryan Templeton of Rockwell, Katelyn Stanley of Enochville and Nicole Huneycutt of Enochville; and two stepgrandchildren, Samantha Hartle and Nicholas Brock of Granite Quarry.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 25,  2013, from 1:30-3 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013, in the chapel of Powles Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Charles Carver, pastor of West Park Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
