Hoyle Delano Poplin Sr, 80, to many known as “Pop”, peacefully entered his heavenly home, on July 2, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Hoyle was born on November 24, 1932, in Aquadale, N.C. He was the first triplet born to the late Walter and Bessie Poplin. Many persons in Stanly County traveled to the home to see the triplets.
Hoyle attended Aquadale school and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Alcoa after working as a machinist for 28 years.
Hoyle enjoyed life through many activities. He was a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities. He served on the bus ministry, youth, Deacon, Vacation Bible School, Cemetery Committee and was an Usher for many years.
Hoyle was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed his animals, gardening, horseback riding, hunting and traveling with his devoted wife, Jean, to many interesting locations.
Hoyle was very devoted to his family. He loved spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether it was playing on the beach, walking in the woods, or riding them on the four-wheeler, he always made the time with them special.
In addition to his parents, Hoyle was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy, James, Craven, Smith, Boyce and Lloyd Poplin; and sisters, Elma Little and Mary Thompson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years, Jean Barringer Poplin; his daughter, Melody Poplin Morton and her husband Mike of Advance, N.C.; son, Hoyle D. Poplin Jr. (Dale) and his wife Sherry of Albemarle; grandchildren, Emily Morton Moore and husband Brian of Mocksville; Zac Morton of Burlington; Samuel Poplin of Albemarle; great-grandchildren, Brily and Ellie Grace Moore of Mocksville; twin brother, Doyle Poplin of Albemarle; and sister, Kathleen Bowers of Norwood.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Stanly Funeral Home of Albemarle. The celebration of his life was at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Anderson Grove Baptist Church in Albemarle, N.C. Burial followed at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
At other times, the family will be meeting at the Poplin home.
