Lula ‘Russ’ Eury dies

She retired after more than 40 years as a nurse

Friday, July 19, 2013 — Concord – Mrs. Lula Russell “Russ” Eury, age 92, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at St. Andrews Assisted Living Center.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 19, 2013, from 10-11 a.m. at Concord ARP Church with the funeral service to be at 11 a.m. Pastor Mark McClamrock will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Russ, affectionately known by all, was born December 5, 1920, in Stanly County, N.C. to the late Travis Ellis and Martha Lou Hudson Russell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Eury and her siblings, Geneva May Mabry, Jane Titus Russell, Glennie R. Grey, Agnes R. Lowder, George Russell, Isaac Russell, Altarae R. Lowder, Travis Russell and Clarence Russell.

Russ was in the first graduating class from Cabarrus Hospital School of Nursing. She always said that was her claim to fame. She worked as an operating room nurse and retired after 40 plus years at Cabarrus Hospital.

She was a faithful member of Concord ARP Church. Although she and Paul had no children of their own, they doted on all their nieces and nephews. She loved her family and they will miss her dearly.

Survivors include many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
