Carlon Huneycutt, 93, of Albemarle, a WWII Army Veteran, who enjoyed fishing, gardening, died June 1, 2014

Monday, June 2, 2014 — Carlon Ben Huneycutt, 93, of Albemarle, passed away on June 1, 2014, at Caldwell County Hospice in Lenoir, N.C.

C.B. Huneycutt was born in western Stanly County on May 10, 1921, to Robert Lee and Mollie Sasser Huneycutt. His wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Carpenter Huneycutt, preceded him in death in 2010. He was the last living child of 14. His brothers and sisters preceding him in death were Mamie H. Sasser, Sam, “Tip”, Alma H. Thomas, Verdie H. Griffin, Maude H. Goodman, Freeland, Nola H. Baucom, Grady, Boone, Curtis (his twin brother), Robert L. “Junior” and a stepsister, Gladys Hatley Freeman.

He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

C.B. was a faithful member of Main Street United Methodist Church. He was a WWII Army veteran. He served as a medical technician and hospital ward master with an Army unit attached to the Air Force.

C.B. knew a lot about farming and is probably best known for working as a salesperson for over 30 years at the former Wilson’s Farm Supply in Albemarle.

He enjoyed fishing and growing garden vegetables, which he loved to share with others. He was a caring individual and had a wonderful sense of humor.

The funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Fred Carpenter, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 E. Main St., Albemarle, NC 28001. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
