Ruby Mullis, 61, of Stanfield, an active church member, died June 20, 2014

Monday, June 23, 2014 — Ruby Grace Mullis, 61 years of age, of Stanfield, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014.

Miss Mullis was born August 8, 1952, in Roseboro, N.C., to the late Barney Benson Mullis and the late Minnie Emily Thomas Mullis. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Rex and Warren Mullis.

Ruby was employed by Variety Pickup in Oakboro for 28 years. She was a long standing active member at Indian Hill Presbyterian Church in Stanfield where she served as choir director, was an Elder, served on the Session and was active in the women of the church. Ruby also provided the flowers in the church for many years. Ruby never had any children of her own but was a mother to more than can be counted.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service was on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Indian Hill Presbyterian Church, 8349 N.C. Highway 200, Stanfield, officiated by the Rev. Rick Brundin. A 30 minute state was held prior to the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors include sisters, Rita Little and Brenda Diane Page, both of Oakboro; brothers, Leroy (Lynda) Mullis  and Archie Mullis, all of Cassatt, S.C. and Glenn (Phyllis) Mullis of Oakboro; sisters-in-law, Mildred and Joyce Mullis; and 21 nieces and nephews.
