Ollie Walker, 82, of Albemarle, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, died July 4, 2014

Monday, July 7, 2014 — Ollie Maynard Walker, 82, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, in Bethany Woods Nursing Center.  

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle, with Pastor Adam Hatley officiating. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory, Albemarle, with full military honors. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the hour of the service.  

Born July 10, 1931, in Warren County, N.C., he was the son of the late Daniel Jackson Walker and Gracie Fletcher Walker and was retired from the United States Air Force with 21 years of service.  

He also retired as an employee of the City of Albemarle. He was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church and a member of the U.S. Air Force Sergeant’s Association.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Bell Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Jewell Simpson Walker; a son, Randi Karlin Walker and wife Diane of Albemarle; brother, John Walker of Nebraska; sisters, Virginia Harris of Raleigh, N.C. and Janie Stanberry of Littleton, N.C.; and granddaughters, Kristi Walker and Brandi Walker.

Stanly Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
