Charles Truesdale, retired mail carrier, of Albemarle, dies at age 86


Sunday, September 22, 2013 — Charles Edward Truesdale, 86, of Albemarle, formerly of Richfield, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013, at Bethany Woods Nursing Center.  

His funeral service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2013, in Richfield Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Miller officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends on Saturday evening, September 21, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle.

Born October 12, 1926, in Richmond County, N.C., he was the son of the late Walter Edward Truesdale and Beulah Mae Harris Truesdale.

He was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service delivering mail in the Richfield area and had also worked with Crowell Hardware years earlier. He was a member of Richfield Baptist Church and a former member of the Richfield Volunteer Fire Department.

He was married to the late Mildred Inez Huneycutt Truesdale, who preceded him in death on June 21, 1991.  

Survivors include son, Walter Truesdale and wife Elizabeth, of Richfield; daughter, Catherine “Cathy” Spainhour and husband Tony of King, N.C.; grandchildren, David M. Freeman of Ariz., Tonya E. Freeman of Fla., Shannon T. Freeman and William E. Freeman, both of Winston-Salem, Gene E. Truesdale of Asheboro, Brittany A. Truesdale and Samantha N. Truesdale, both of Richfield; and nine great-grandchildren.  

The family requests memorials be made to Richfield Baptist Church, 402 S. Main St., Richfield, NC, 28137.
