Cliff Swaringen was a retired sewing machine mechanic

Friday, September 13, 2013 — James Clifford “Cliff” Swaringen, 82, of Norwood, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 10, 2013, at CMC Northeast Medical Center in Concord, N.C.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Freedom Holiness Church. Rev. Bryan Burris will officiate. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood, N.C.

Mr. Swaringen was born June 12, 1931, in Anson County. He is the son of the late Thomas Mitch and Annie Elizabeth Gibson Swaringen.  

He was a retired sewing machine mechanic from Cassie Cotillion Mills.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters, Junior Swaringen, Annie Biles and Helen Wagoner.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bertie Ann Carpenter Swaringen, of the home; one son, Michael Swaringen and wife Ginger of Norwood; two daughters, Malinda Swaringen Barrett and husband Carroll and Kitty Swaringen, all of Norwood; and three brothers, Bill Swaringen, Bob Swaringen and Leonard Swaringen, all of Norwood.  In addition, there are nine grandchildren and 11 great-grand children.
