Zora Foglia Efird, age 83, of Albemarle, died at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013, in Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2013, at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Albemarle. Pastor Don Phillips officiated and burial was in St. Martin’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family received friends in the Efird Parlor of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Born November 27, 1929, in Stanly County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Victor Foglia and Julia Martello Foglia.
She was a graduate of Badin High School, a homemaker and a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and was a wonderful cook.
Mrs. Efird was married to the late William Clay Efird, who preceded her in death June 7, 2013. They were married for 62 years.
Two brothers, Joe Foglia and Buck Foglia; and five sisters, Nancy Hanks, Mary Taylor, Ruby Crisco, Louise Hill and Florence Hill, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Becky Efird Kendall and husband Lenwood and Donna Efird Stallings and husband Ned, all of Albemarle and Anita Efird Blair and husband Jim of Norwood; seven grandchildren, David Stallings (Emily), Vic Stallings (Jillian), Mary Stallings Senter (Jim), John Stallings, Laura Blair Fields (William), Nick Kendall (Jayne) and Curt Kendall; and nine great-grandchildren, Claire Kendall, Jack Kendall, Samuel Stallings, Lane Stallings, Mylee Stallings, Shelby Stallings, Stella Senter, Eli Fields and Benjamin Fields.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Stanly Manor, Spring Arbor, caregivers and Dr. Kepp for their compassionate care.
