Rev. Truette Rogers


Thursday, March 21, 2013 — Rev. Truette Rogers, 84, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at Stanly Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Plyler Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Franklin and Pastor Mark Mabry officiating.

Burial will be in Canton Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team.

The family received friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 6-8 p.m.

Born July 19, 1928, in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late Reuben L. Rogers and Cora Whitley Rogers and Fannie Coley Rogers, who raised him.

Rev. Rogers was a retired Baptist Minister. He was educated at Fruitland Bible Institute and was ordained at Canton Baptist Church in 1957. He served in churches in Stanly, Montgomery, Richmond and Brunswick counties until 1994. He was a member of Plyler Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict.

Rev. Rogers is survived by his wife, Ruby Throneburg Rogers, of the home; sons, T. Stephen Rogers of Charlotte and Stan Rogers and wife Joanne of Albemarle; sister, Selma Smith of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Tasha Kilpatrick, Juanita Poplin and Felicia Julien; five great-grandchildren; Spencer, Andrew, Nathan, Brantly and Emmett.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Stephen Rogers.

Stanly Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
