Nell Hinson


Sunday, March 24, 2013 — Elizabeth Nellene ”Nell” Byrd Hinson, 80, of Albemarle, lovingly known to her family as “Aunt Bill,” died Friday morning, March 22, 2013, at Stanly Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at Randall United Methodist Church. Rev. Gene Moore will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Edwards Funeral in Norwood.

Mrs. Hinson was born October 1, 1932, in Stanly County. She was a daughter of the late Henry and Leola Thompson Byrd.

She was an active member of Randall United Methodist Church where she had served on the Administrative Board, President of the United Methodist Women and a member of the choir. She worked for many years at Knitster’s in Albemarle and was a retiree of American Lockstitch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Gilreath Hinson; brothers and sister, Robert, Marvin, Sam T. and Francis and Hurley Byrd Howell.

She is survived by her son, Richard Henry Hinson and wife Beth; her daughters, Karen Hinson Mauldin and husband Alan and Tammy Hinson Reynolds and husband Charles, all of Albemarle; two sisters, Louise “Sis” Shankle and Alma “Tiney” Ballard, both of Norwood; six grandchildren, David Mauldin, Stacy Mauldin Lucas, Robin Hinson Helms, Spencer Hinson, and Ivy and Levi Reynolds; and seven great-grandchildren, Skylar, Connor and Drake Mauldin, Kaitlyn, Hailey and Austin Lucas and Aiden Helms.
