Jerry Kimrey, of New London, passed away Nov. 14, 2013, at age 72


Sunday, November 17, 2013 — William Jerry Kimrey, age 72, of New London, N.C., died at 6:07 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013, at his home.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle.

His funeral was at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Bethel United Methodist Church, New London, N.C. Rev. David Nolan  officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

Born February 5, 1941, in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late Cecil Brady Kimrey and Hazel Mauldin Kimrey.

He was a graduate of Albemarle High School and Kings College in Charlotte, N.C. He was a retired employee of Alcoa.

He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in New London. He was Sunday School Superintendent, former Chairman of the Board at the church and a former member of many committees.

Mr. Kimrey was married to Doris Chandler Kimrey of the home.

Other survivors include one son, William Jerry “Jay” Kimrey II and wife Michelle of New London, N.C.; three daughters, Lori Kimrey Waddell and husband Add of Henryetta, Okla.; Elisa Kimrey Roberts and husband Ryan of New London, N.C. and Angie Kimrey Sellers and husband Steven of Ruby, S.C.; two brothers, Larry Kimrey and Ernest Kimrey, both of Albemarle, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Stanly Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
