Congratulations to the Arc of Stanly County (now Monarch) for 50 years of dedicated service to so many locally and its continual growth in service across North Carolina.
On Friday afternoon, the Arc celebrated that growth with a ribbon cutting at its new offices in the newly renovated Lillian Mills, then that night, there was a banquet celebrating its past success and its passion for the future.
“It’s all about family when you get right down to it,” said the Arc’s first director, Elbert Johns, in describing the Arc’s call to service.
“We get to do God’s work everyday,” added Dr. Peggy Terhune, the current director.
From its Stanly County beginning in 1958 to its present involvement in 35 North Carolina counties, the Arc has remained true to its mission.
Today, it’s family of employees and volunteers are God’s helping hands to a family of 3,500 clients.
And Stanly County and North Carolina are better as a result.
