Deadline rapidly nearing on drive

SNAP

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 — Our “1 Can, 1 Dollar” campaign to raise funds for West Stanly Christian Ministries (WSCM) and Stanly Community Christian Ministry (SCCM) has fallen short of our goal this year.

That is not taking anything away from the generous people who have donated, it’s just that so much more is needed and time is running out. The last day to donate is Friday.

We put a call out to classrooms to see what they could raise, but the items are not overflowing yet.

We realize the economy is bad and that times are tough, but that means it is even tougher for someone else out there. If you think you have it bad, there is always someone else who will not have a meal that night or may not have a place to stay.

We’re just trying to do our part in helping these two great organizations.

We know we may see a surge at the last minute, but we are putting the request out there one more time for good measure.

SCCM was in need of canned or dry beans, broths or soups, flour, sugar and grits, pop-top food items, toilet paper and paper towels, soap and shampoo.

WSCM was in need of canned meat, crackers, canned potatoes, pork’n’beans, spaghetti sauce and noodles.

Please donate. Help someone who needs you.

Items can be dropped off at the SNAP, 237 W. North St., Albemarle, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Oct. 19.
