Gold Rush Days set for Saturday


Thursday, May 9, 2013 — The Gold Hill Merchants will host Gold Rush Days this Saturday in the historic village of Gold Hill. The event will include arts, crafts, historic interpretations, bluegrass music and  heritage living exhibits reflecting the nineteenth century gold mining era. Gold panning and panning competition will also be held. Regional quilters  participate in the Airing of the Quilts.

Quilts will be displayed along the many white picket fences around the village shops and homes. Come dressed in 19th century period costume to enter the competition at 2 p.m. The event will be held in the village of Gold Hill. Eight to 10 bands will participate in the Ralph Pennington Memorial Bluegrass Reunion which will be held during the Gold Rush Days event. Bands include Southern Junction of Concord, Grass Strings of Kannapolis, Fox Mountain Entertainers, Willow Creek of Mt. Pleasant, Carolina Rose with Tom Isenhour, Randy Mauldin and Vivian Hopkins, Montgomery & Co., and more.

All bluegrass and Old Time Musicians are welcome to attend as there will be an open jam sessions at the Montgomery Store and other locations throughout the day. The event is Free admission and will be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
