Birth of Coffee – NEW – One of the most popular beverages in the world and a morning staple for many, coffee is a drink that transcends continents and culture. This photographic exhibition, based on a book of words and images, focuses on the people worldwide who grow and produce coffee. The project’s images and prose capture the global stories of the intense and often difficult growing process, illuminating the extraordinary science and the human experience behind the daily cup of coffee. Through January 7. In partnership with S&D Coffee.

Explore More Stuff Lab – October’s theme is Chemistry: It’s elemental! From the strands of hair on your head to the magic behind how cell phones function, chemistry is the science of the reactions that power everyday life. Visitors will paint with crystal ink, use spectroscopy to identify food additives, explore how antioxidants affect reactions, make slimy polymers that mimic the mucus that lines the esophagus and much more. In partnership with CEM.

Explore More Life Lab – October’s theme is Decomposers:  You may reduce, reuse and recycle at home, but Mother Nature is Earth’s ultimate recycler. Delve into how nature’s recycling system works and who’s involved. Creep by our worm bin, learn about soil moisture and observe decomposers you might find in your own backyard

Special Activity: Dig deep with our resident worm expert and get up close and personal with some of nature’s recyclers. Saturdays in October; 11:00 a.m.
