Monday, May 20, 2013 — CHARLOTTE — Charlotte’s top professional athletes and local heroes are set to share the spotlight with children served by the Muscular Dystrophy Association at the annual Charlotte Muscle Team® event on Tuesday, May 21 at Bank of America Stadium from 6-10 p.m.
Charlotte Muscle Team is a unique social event that pairs top professional athletes and local heroes, including military personnel and fire fighters, with an “MDA Buddy” (a local child living with a neuromuscular disease) for the evening to help raise awareness and funds for families served by MDA in the Charlotte area.
MDA National Goodwill Ambassador and self-proclaimed sports fanatic Bryson Foster, 12, of Concord., is excited to be paired with Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Jordan Gross. The duo will team up for the evening to help spread the word about MDA’s lifesaving mission to sponsors, families and other local celebrities in attendance.
"Athletes and service members are considered heroes for what they do professionally. But to me, they are even bigger heroes for supporting MDA and the fight against muscle disease," Foster said.
“That's why Charlotte Muscle Team is one of my favorite events of the year, because I get to spend the evening getting to know some of the heroes who make a difference every day for families like mine."
WWE wrestling legend and longtime friend of MDA Sgt. Slaughter will be among some of the pro athletes attending this year's event. Also, the Association is proud to welcome JD Motorsports NASCAR driver Mike Wallace and Maj. Gen. Chuck Swannack (retired U.S. Army) to the Muscle Team.
The Charlotte Muscle Team event will be held in the exclusive Panthers Den at Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. Participants can meet and greet athletes, coaches, MDA Buddies, local celebrities and business executives while raising money to support the Association.
