The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 054-26 Western North Carolina held their Annual Change of Watch Saturday January 21st.

The Change of Watch was held at Queens Landing located on Lake Norman.

Thursday, January 19, 2012 — The Change of Watch was held at Queens Landing located on Lake Norman.


Flotilla’s representing Western North Carolina were included in the ceremony.


The following Flotilla’s were represented: 

• Flotilla 26-01 – Lake Norman

• Flotilla 26-02 – Lake Wylie

• Flotilla 26-03 – Davidson

• Flotilla 26-04 – Lake Norman West

• Flotilla 26-05 – NC Western Foothills

• Flotilla 26-07 – Badin Lake


Distinguished guest included Commander Steven P. McGee, Prevention Department

Head, Sector North Carolina, Robert J. Birrane Sr, District Commodore and Jeffrey V.

Stewart Jr, District Captain – Sector North Carolina. The Key Note Speaker was CDR

Andrew Murray.


With the resent cut backs on Government spending, the local Flotilla’s are recruiting

• Operations and Marine Safety

• Mission Support

• Search & Rescue

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed civilian component of the United States

Coast Guard. Created by an Act of Congress in 1939, the Auxiliary directly supports the

Coast Guard in all missions, except military and law enforcement actions. The Coast

Guard’s motto is SEMPER PARATUS (ALWAYS READY). The Coast Guard Auxiliary is
