U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell (NC-08) has announced that he has nominated four local students to U.S. Service Academies. In order to receive an appointment to a military academy, students must first receive a nomination.
“The hard work and effort of these students to pursue the long and brave tradition of service to our nation is a testament to their dedication,” Kissell said.
“The young men and women who receive acceptance to one of the U.S. Service Academies will not only serve as officers in our armed services, but will also be the future leaders of our communities and nation. I am proud to offer these nominations.”
Meredith James Allen, 17, who received nominations to the United States Naval Academy and the United States Military Academy. The Gray Stone Day School student is the daughter of C. Lee and Mary Allen of Albemarle.
Tanner Hunt Gresham, 17, who received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy. The South Stanly High School student is the son of Scott and Stephanie Gresham of Albemarle.
Shua Ly, 18, who received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy. The Albemarle High School student is the son of Nhia and Zoua Ly of Albemarle.
Landon Joseph Morrison, 17, who received a nomination to the Air Force Academy. The West Stanly High School student is the son of Timothy and Cindy Morrison of Midland.
