The Albemarle girls’ basketball team was eliminated from the Yadkin Valley Conference tournament Thursday night.

Paige McConlogue had a double-double for Albemarle (9-12) with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Erin Freeman also had a double-double for the Bulldogs with 12 points and 11 boards.

Tashonna Farmer led North Moore with 12 points as the Mustangs shot 17-of-45 from the field (37.8 percent).

Albemarle struggled from the floor, hitting just 11-of-55 (20 percent) and 11-of-19 from the free-throw line.

Trailing by 20 at halftime, the ‘Dogs rallied to cut the lead in half with a 15-5 third quarter, and had the game down to nine points early in the fourth. An offensive foul call on Mariah Lowder swung the momentum back to North Moore.

“The girls played their hearts out tonight, especially in the third . Our defense was good in the fourth but we couldn’t score,” Bulldog head coach Stephanie Lowder said.

Albemarle will play Monday night on the road in the 1A state playoffs.
