Burgess advances to 2A State finals

— West Stanly’s Brian Burgess tied for medalist honors in the regional golf tournament held at Eagle Chase golf course in Marshville. Burgess shot an even-par round of 72 and was tied with Ledford’s Jordan Stiles through 18 holes. However, Stiles birdied the first playoff hole to win first place. He will play next in the 2A State Championship, which will be held at Longleaf Golf and Country Club in Pinehurst on May 12-13.
