Yeakley runs to 3rd and 4th finishes at 2A State Meet

— West Stanly junior Daniel Yeakley had an outstanding day at last Friday’s 2A State Track Meet at NC A&T in Greensboro.
In the 1600 meter, Yeakley ran a personal best of 4:35.22 to finish in fourth place. Cedar Ridge’s Jeremy Gerlach ran 4:28.90 to take first place.
Then in the 3200 meter, Yeakley again set a personal best and ran 10:13.19 to claim third place. Josey Weaver of Madison won the race in a time of 9:58.49.
Yeakley and his 4x800 meter relay teammates - Clay Calvert, Joe Burris and Brandon Poplin - ran an 8:33.20 to finish in ninth place. Brevard was the winner in 8:14.80.
