The Uwharrie Running Club's Running 101 program is back. The purpose of this program is to encourage those that think they can't run a 5K to finish a 3.1 mile race and to train runners for the Run the Valley 5K race in Badin on Sept. 20.
The start date is Tuesday, July 29 at Vac and Dash at 6:30 p.m. Future meetings will be held each Tuesday at 6:30 pm. Meeting places will rotate between Rock Creek Park and Badin.
This program is for all ability levels from couch potatoes to experienced runners. Classes consist of seminars and group running. Topics of the seminars include nutrition, stretching, equipment as well as other running tips.
We encourage new folks as well as those who participated in previous programs to come. The cost is $30 and this includes a t-shirt and registration for the Run the Valley 5K race. Previous Running 101 programs have been very successful and the Uwharrie Running Club looks forward to seeing former participants as well as new ones.
To register, call Vac and Dash (704) 983-3274. Deadline for registering is July 29.
