Pfeiffer University Director of Athletics Bobby Stewart announces Philip Fecteau will become Director of Golf. Fecteau is an award-winning PGA member with over 20 years of experience.
As a teaching professional, Fecteau has seen more than 40 of his students go on to play at the Division I level, as well as many more play at the Division II and Division III level.
Fecteau, a PGA member, comes from the Country Club of Whispering Pines where he served as Head Golf Professional. He also has experience as a teaching professional and head golf professional with public and private golf courses in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Fecteau has conducted private lessons, organized golf leagues, and managed tournaments.
“Pfeiffer is incredibly excited to announce the hiring of Phil Fecteau,” Stewart said. “Phil has all of the attributes necessary to lead a successful golf program – experience, ability to teach, and a passion for the game. I look forward to seeing Phil direct our program to the next level.”
Fecteau was named one of Golf Magazine’s Top Teachers of the Year from 2001-2004 and was nominated for the Top 100 in 2005. He was also named New England PGA Teacher of the Year in 1998.
From 1995 to 2004 Fecteau was listed in the Top 25 New England PGA player of the year standings.
Fecteau is a member of the National Golf Writers Association, has previously written monthly articles for Ocean State Golf and attends PGA continuing education workshops.
He graduated from Blackburn College with his bachelor of arts degree in 1978 and later earned his master of public administration degree from the University of Idaho in 1987.
