The National Underclassmen Combine Youth All-American Game was played this past Monday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Eight members of the North Stanly Middle School football team that will soon be starring for North Stanly High School Contributed in the combine and football game.
Jacob Clayton, Logan Chandler, Taylor Chandler, Cameron Davis, C.J. Gramling, Kolby Lamb, Drew Little and Cob Russell all participated in the All-Star event.
The North Stanly players had several key moments in the game, including Davis at running back, who had five carries for 52 yards and a three-yard rushing touchdown that gave the North squad its only lead in the game.
On the defensive side, Gramling was named the defensive Most Valuable Player for the game and Lamp recorded an interception for the North team that stalled a South drive.
The South squad won the game by the score of 38-12 after trailing 12-6 in the first quarter.
“I’m proud of this talented group of young men that went to Myrtle Beach and represented Stanly County and North Stanly well. I’m really looking forward to coaching these guys,” North Stanly head coach Ralph Jackson said.
