Gray Stone hands Albemarle first loss of season; South Stanly tops North Moore; West Stanly loses to CATA

Thursday, April 11, 2013 — In high school tennis matches this week, Albemarle took on East Montgomery on Monday and Gray Stone on Wednesday, while South Stanly faced North Rowan and West Stanly had a close match with Central Academy.

The Bulldogs improved to 12-0 on the season and 8-0 in the Yadkin Valley Conference with an 8-1 home win over East Montgomery.

In a close home Rocky River Conference match on Tuesday, the Colts lost a heartbreaker to Central Academy 5-4, falling to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

The win streak to start the season for the Albemarle boys’ tennis team came to an end at Chuck Morehead Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Visiting Gray Stone won four singles and two doubles’ matches enroute to the 6-3 win over the Bulldogs.

The win improved the Knights’ overall record to 6-2 and their conference record to 5-1, putting them right behind Albemarle for first place in the conference.

The Bulldogs’ record this season stands at 12-1 overall and 7-1 in the Yadkin Valley Conference.
