In recent Stanly County soccer action, Albemarle kept a lengthy win streak alive while Gray Stone suffered their second loss of the season.
North Stanly 1
After a scoreless first half, the visiting Bulldogs scored six second half goals enroute to a 6-1 Yadkin Valley Conference West win over host North Stanly.
Albemarle improved to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the YVC-West, winning their sixth straight match after starting the season losing six of its first seven games.
After a scoreless first half, Mason Krol stepped up the scoring attack and netted a second-half hat trick. Ross Plyler added 2 goals and Adam Yang scored a goal as well. Assists were provided by Adam Yang with two each, and Jay Potter, Ross Plyler and Evan McDow each added an assist. Donnie Hall and Jay Potter split time in the net and recorded six saves.
King Vang scored the only goal of the night for the Comets (2-7, 1-4).
North Moore 3
Gray Stone 1
Last Wednesday, the Knights met another team ranked in the top 15 in the latest eurosportscoreboard.com poll, the North Moore Mustangs, at home.
The Mustangs broke out to a 2-0 lead and went on to a 3-1 win over the Knights.
John Latimer scored the lone goal of the game for Gray Stone (12-2-2, 5-1 YVC-W) in the 17th minute on a penalty kick.
Gray Stone travels to Albemarle on Wednesday evening.
