The West Stanly varsity football squad fell to 1-6 overall and suffered its first Rocky River Conference loss on Friday night 41-0 at new Rocky River Conference member Parkwood.
West’s offense had 191 total yards of offense despite not putting points on the scoreboard. B.J. Hill led the rushing attack for the Colts with 125 yards on 10 attempts. Ryan McCormick added 29 yards on 12 carries and quarterback Matt Price had 17 carries for 13 yards.
Through the air, Price was 1-of-8 for 12 yards, that completion going to tight end Charlie Eudy. Price was sacked four times in the game and threw two interceptions.
“There are some guys that competed hard tonight,” West head coach James Johnson said, noting that efforts of players like Ethan Burleson, who Johnson said “has shown promise.”
Johnson also said that the West Stanly linebacking corps “took some steps forward in the last couple of weeks.”
The game was costly for West as Eudy reaggrevated an injury to his MCL he had previously suffered and may miss the rest of the season.
West also lost Michael Barkley to a knee injury as well.
The Colts will host Central Academy (3-4, 0-1) this Friday night. The Cougars lost at home to Monroe 46-7 Friday night.
