Stanly County seniors end losing streak with win at Randolph County

Thursday, June 5, 2014 — After the Stanly County American Legion Post 76 senior squad saw a losing streak reach seven games on Saturday, the team ended that trend on Monday night with a road win at McCrary Park over Randolph County Post 45.

Saturday’s Game

Concord 7, Stanly County 6

Post 76 was scheduled to play two games on Saturday at the field at Central Cabarrus High School against Concord and Kannapolis, but the second game for Stanly never took place due to the sprinklers having been left on the previous night.

After a lengthly delay, Stanly County played one seven-inning game with Concord, rallying from a 6-0 deficit but falling in the end 7-6.

Justin Crump took the loss for Stanly, relieved by Matt Lambert. Lambert allowed just one run over the next six innings while Stanly rallied with five runs in the second and a run in the top of the fourth that tied the game.

Concord (4-6) took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth.
