Knights move forward

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 — Three Gray Stone tennis players earned berths into the NCHSAA state 1A individual tennis finals with their play in the regionals this past weekend.

Brooke Herlocker and Libby Fowler won the regional as a doubles’ team,  winning in the finals over Mount Airy’s Davi Barbour and Haley Thomas 6-4, 3-6 and 6-4.

Megan Hedgepeth also reached the finals as an individual.

In the dual team tennis playoffs, the Knights had a bye in the first round  and will play Thomas Jefferson (9-2), a wild card from the Western Highlands Conference, today.
