West Stanly Colts shut out Forest Hills; Albemarle Bulldogs downed by Severn; North Stanly tops North Moore

Sunday, March 17, 2013 — In baseball games this Thursday and Friday, West Stanly blanked Forest Hills on the road while Albemarle took on a non-conference opponent from Maryland.

Thursday’s Games

Forest Hills 0

The Colts got another strong performance from starting pitcher Zac Brown in a 6-0 road win at Forest Hills.

Friday’s Games

Severn 9

Albemarle 4

Making a southern tour on their school’s spring break, the Severn Admirals from Maryland paid a visit to Don Montgomery Park on Friday night to take on host Albemarle in an exhibition game.

The host Bulldogs were coming off a 10-0 five-inning loss at West Montgomery where Warrior starting pitcher Cody McKenzie held Albemarle to no runs on two hits.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead at home but an error-filled inning broke the game open and led to a 9-4 loss for Albemarle.

Todd Hoffner was accused when a technician found videos of his young children on his school-issued cellphone. Officials in Mankato fired him even though a judge had thrown out the charges.
