Gray Stone soccer wins seventh straight match

Sunday, May 4, 2014 — The Gray Stone Knights women’s soccer team kept a current win streak alive on Wednesday evening on the road.

Four second-half goals lifted the Knights to a 5-1 non-conference win over West Montgomery.

Five different players scored goals for Gray Stone (13-1), including Annie Habeeb, Maggie Habeeb, Wesley Harrington, Olivia Howard and Sarah Lanning. Kesley Kiser had three assists.

Elauna Pettigrew made five saves and earned the win in goal for Gray Stone.

Lanning scored in the third minute, with an assist to Kiser, but West Montgomery answered in the 21st minute to tie the match 1-1.

In the second half, Maggie Habeeb scored in the 43rd minute, with an assist to Howard, to give the Knights the lead for good. Howard added a goal a minute later, assisted by Kiser.

Harrington’s unassisted goal came in the 49th minute, and Annie Habeeb rounded out the scoring in the 62nd minute, with Kiser dishing out the assist.

The Knights return to YVC West play at 4:30 p.m. on Monday at home against first-place Union Academy.
