Saturday, June 1, 2013 — Game Two of the 2013 1A state finals series between South Stanly and Midway feature 28 runs, 27 hits and 10 errors between the two teams.
The Raiders took the victory 16-12 over the Rebel Bulls, forcing a third and deciding game tonight at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Heath Smith took the win for Midway (27-4) despite allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Ryan Lee came on in the bottom of the seventh and earned the save for the Vikings.
Easton Horton pitched 1+ innings for South (29-6), taking the loss. Five different pitchers took the mound for South, including Ryan Coley, Sawyer Lee, Russ Weiker and Dylan Starnes.
Connor Ford had a huge game at the plate for the Bulls, going 4-for-4 with three doubles and an RBI, while Vance Deese added three RBIs going 2-for-4.
Midway leadoff hitter Taylor Calcutt had his first and second home runs of the season, along with going 4-for-6 with six RBIs.
