The Gray Stone basketball teams hosted North Moore in non-conference games on Friday night.
The Knights will travel to Albemarle on Friday.

The Knights have been on a strong run in YVC West play this season with a 4-1 record but found a tough test in visiting North Moore, coming out with a 72-63 win.
Shannon Efird led Gray Stone (8-6)with 18 points and 27 rebounds, while Erin Habeeb added 16, and Erin Ansbro had 14.
North Moore started the first quarter strong start with defense towards Gray Stone with 2:11 remaining in the game. North Moore was able to stay on top scoring 18 of their points to lead by five after one quarter.
Gray Stone came out strong in the second making two baskets in a 36-second time frame bringing the score to 18-17. With 4:45 remaining, Erin Ansbro tied the game up with a quick drive to the basket.
The Knights hustled after loose balls and Efird continued to pull down rebounds in the period as the Knights pulled to within two at halftime.
In the third, the Knights came out energized, start with a 5-0 point run to lead 33-30. With 2:04 left in the third, Gray Stone’s Jordan Redman hit a free throw to give the lead back to the Knights 39-38.
It was a race to the finish in the fourth as the two teams battled back and forth. Gray Stone pulled away late when Habeeb knocked down a three and Efird scored a late bucket.
The two teams combined for 61 total fouls. Gray Stone was 29-of-57 (50.9 percent) at the line. while The Mustangs were 20-of-38 (52.6 percent).

In the first half, Gray Stone (1-13) fought closely with the Mustangs. With 4:03 remaining in the game, Alex Wang tied the game 14-14.
Back to back fast breaks by the Mustangs (9-5) built a narrow margin for North Moore at halftime 23-19.
The lead for the Mustangs went up very quickly in the second half. North Moore went on a quick offensive rage in a 45-second push, and with 3:44 left in the third, Gray Stone could not stop the Mustangs’ offense.
The Knights struggled in getting chances at the free-throw line shooting 4-of-8 (50 percent). The Mustangs were 12-of-16 at the foul line (75 percent).
