The Stanly County American Legion senior baseball team's season came to an end on Saturday afternoon at Don Montgomery Park.
After losing Game Four early Saturday afternoon at home to Mooresville Post 66 5-3, Stanly County rallied from a 4-1 deficit to take a 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the ninth as the visiting team in the fifth and deciding game.
However, Mooresville scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to an extra inning, where Post 66 scored the winning run with one out in the bottom of the 10th for the victory and the playoff series three games to two.
Post 66 moves on to face Randolph County in a best-of-five series in the next round of the Area III American Legion playoffs.
Stanly finished the 2013 season 16-13 overall, three wins better than last year's mark of 13-16, including winning a playoff series for the first time in four seasons.
