Thursday, February 20, 2014 — The Guinness International Champions Cup is a unique tournament featuring eight of the world’s best and most recognizable soccer clubs: Real Madrid CF, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, AS Roma, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Olympiacos. Twelve round robin contests will be hosted across North America with matches in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Charlotte, Denver, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Dallas and one additional city from July 24-Aug. 2.  The tournament will crown an overall champion Monday, Aug. 4 at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium. “We’re incredibly proud and excited to host AC Milan and Liverpool in Charlotte,” says CRVA CEO Tom Murray. “It’s an event that not only energizes the city’s thriving soccer community, but it also becomes a considerable draw that will bring visitors to our city who will dine in our restaurants, stay in our hotels and experience the vibrancy that Charlotte has to offer.”

Founded in 1892, Liverpool FC is one of the world’s most historic and famous football clubs having won 18 League Titles, seven FA Cups, eight League Cups, five European Cups, three UEFA Cups, three European Super Cups and 15 Charity Shields. Their  five championships are tied for third, only behind Real Madrid (9) and AC Milan (7), both of whom are also participating in the Guinness International Champions Cup. Liverpool FC has one of the best records in all of European football and has the most top-flight wins than any other English team. For more information on the Reds, visit liverpoolfc.com.

“We are pleased to announce Charlotte as one of the destinations for our 2014 preseason tour. Charlotte is a wonderful city, similar to Liverpool in many ways; historically famous for being a distribution hub servicing the country. We are delighted that the Mayor's office, Relevent and the Carolina Panthers have come together to give football a platform in this state” commented Billy Hogan, Chief Commercial Officer at Liverpool FC.

Pulling into Charlotte Motor Speedway, the first thing one may think about is getting in one of those really fast cars and taking a spin around the track.
Cracking the motor, hearing the roar, tearing down the front stretch at 200 mph with numerous other cars doing the same. The rush, excitement and adrenaline pumping all while maintaining focus and poise as you power the aggressive vehicle around the track.
