Gray Stone girls' soccer stays undefeated with wins over North Stanly, Albemarle

Tuesday, March 25, 2014 — In recent girls’ soccer matchups, the Gray Stone Knights earned Yadkin Valley Conference West wins over North Stanly and Albemarle.

Gray Stone 8, North Stanly 1

The Knights jumped out to a fast 2-0 lead in the first three minutes of the match and went on to earn the 8-1 home win.

Sarah Lanning led the offense for Gray Stone with two goals, while Wesleigh Harrington added a goal and two assists and Kate Sullivan had a goal and an assist. The Knights also got goals from Maggie Habeeb, Jolei Richardson and Michaela Patterson, along with three assists from Kelsey Kiser and an assist from Hope Moua.

Gray Stone 8, Albemarle 0

On a chilly Monday afternoon, the Knights, down to two subs on the bench due to injuries, got a lift from three players in an 8-0 home win over the Bulldogs.

Kate Sullivan had a hat trick for Gray Stone (5-0, 3-0 YVC West) while Sarah Lanning and Hope Moua scored two goals each and Maggie Habeeb netted a goal.

Gray Stone led 2-0 after the first half of play when Lanning scored, assisted by Kelsey Kiser, in the 16th minute, and Moua scored in the 35th minute.

Sullivan, Habeeb and Moua each scored in the first seven minutes of the second half enroute to the win.
