Stanly County Baseball Notebook

Sunday, April 28, 2013 — The final night of the regular season for the baseball teams of Stanly County saw the renewal of one long-standing baseball old rivalry and the completion of a regular-season conference rivalry that will not be in the conference next season as Albemarle travelled to South Stanly and North Stanly hosted West Stanly.

Albemarle 7

South Stanly 4

The cliche is true for rivalry games like Albemarle and South Stanly’s baseball teams that you can throw the records out the window when the two teams meet on the diamond.

Friday night saw the Bulldogs, with an overall winning percentage under .500 overall this season, taking on the 20-win Rebel Bulls ranked fourth in the final Impact Baseball poll for the regular season released on April 15.

An intensely played game between the two squads saw the visitors lose a four-run lead then rally in the later innings for a 7-4 road win.

Pulling into Charlotte Motor Speedway, the first thing one may think about is getting in one of those really fast cars and taking a spin around the track.
Cracking the motor, hearing the roar, tearing down the front stretch at 200 mph with numerous other cars doing the same. The rush, excitement and adrenaline pumping all while maintaining focus and poise as you power the aggressive vehicle around the track.
