Thursday, September 5, 2013 — In Yadkin Valley Conference West volleyball games this week, Albemarle topped South Stanly while Gray Stone swept Queens Grant and North Stanly beat Union Academy.

Tuesday’s Matches

Albemarle 3

South Stanly 0

The Bulldogs swept South Stanly on Tuesday night with scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-19.

Akela Branch led the Bulldogs (4-2, 2-1 YVC-W) with 12 kills and eight digs, while Samantha Blue added seven kills. Morgan Smet paced Albemarle with 25 assists.

Albemarle travels to Queens Grant tonight while South Stanly travels to North Stanly.

Gray Stone 3

Queens Grant 0

Gray Stone continued their strong start to the season with a 3-0 win over Queens Grant with scored of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-15.

Jordan Redman led the Knights with 17 kills while setter Maggie Habeeb had 15 assists.

Gray Stone travels to Union Academy tonight.

North Stanly 3

Union Academy 0

The Comets earned a YVC West win on Tuesday night  at home against Union Academy.

Scores of the match were 25-15, 25-9 and 25-10.

“We played well and are starting to play more as a team as they are getting used to playing together,” North head coach Beth Poolos said.
