Stanly County loses at home to Mooresville

Series even at 1-1; Wednesday's game postponed

By Charles Curcio, Sports Editor

Thursday, July 11, 2013 — In the regular-season matchups between the American Legion baseball teams of Stanly County Post 76 and Mooresville Post 66, the trend this season was that the visiting team racked up big offensive numbers and won those games on the road.

Both teams have continued that trend going into the playoffs, as Stanly posted a huge win on Monday at Mooresville 12-3 and Post 66 returned the favor Tuesday night at Don Montgomery Park with a 12-5 win over Post 76.

Game Three of the best-of-five series between the two teams in Mooresville on Wednesday night was postponed just before the game’s start due to a thunderstorm making the field unplayable.

The two teams are scheduled to play tonight at 7 at Lake Norman High School, weather permitting.

For more on the game, see the July 11 print edition.

Editor's Note: Tonight's game at Mooresville has been cancelled as well. The series will likely become a best-of-three, with Mooresville hosting a deciding game either Friday or Saturday as weather and field conditions permit.
