Albemarle sweeps regular-season basketball finales at S. Stanly

Sunday, February 17, 2013 — The varsity basketball squads of Albemarle and South Stanly wrapped up their regular-season schedule on Friday night with a doubleheader at South.


Albemarle 87

South Stanly 41

Albemarle faced the host Rebel Bulls on Friday night without starter Deon Christian or sixth man Andre Ridenhour. Both were in street clothes for the game but are expected to be back for this week’s Yadkin Valley Conference tournament.

The Bulldogs built a 20-point lead then exploded in the third quarter enroute to an 87-41 win over South Stanly.

The South Stanly girls needed a win over the Bulldogs to have a chance to qualify for the YVC postseason tournament, but a late rally came up short in a 59-44 loss.
