Yadkin Valley Conference Golf

Gray Stone wins, takes second place in recent matches

Sunday, March 24, 2013 — After the opening matchup at South Davidson, the golf team of the Yadkin Valley Conference played matches on back-to-back days this week, playing at Little River Golf Club on Wednesday and Siler City Country Cub on Thursday.

The Gray Stone Knights won the match on Wednesday and took second place on Thursday. (Editor's Note: The previous sentence was incorrectly printed in Sunday's print edition. We apologize for the mistake.)

Little River Match

Three teams finished within three shots of each other in the match hosted by North Moore.

Gray Stone took the win with the low score of 173, beating West Montgomery by two strokes and topping Albemarle (176) by three.

North Moore came in fourth (208), followed by South Stanly (210), ham Central (220), East Montgomery (222) and South Davidson (242).

Siler City Match

Chatham Central hosted the third YVC match of the year, with West Montgomery claiming the win with a score of 164. Gray Stone was second (173), followed by Albemarle (188), North Moore (198), East Montgomery (206), North Row-an (208), South Stanly (218) and Chatham Central (223).

The next match will be April 8 at Piney Point Golf Club hosted by the Bulls.
