Carolina Christian sweeps varsity basketball games at Gray Stone

Tuesday, December 10, 2013 — The varsity basketball teams of Carolina Christian School traveled to Misenheimer on Monday to face  Gray Stone.

In the women's game, Carolina Christian (7-1) earned a 35-19 road victory over Gray Stone (3-2).

Elizabeth Franklin led with 13 points and Ashton Franklin added10 points and 10 rebounds. Chelsea Burris pulled down a game high 11 rebounds. Erin Ansbro led the Knights with 6 points.

“I was pleased with our team's effort tonight on both ends of the court. We handled the pressure well,” CCS head coach Randy Burris said.

The Lions (5-4) from CCS moved out to an 18-13 lead in the first quarter behind six points from Josh Martin.

Gray Stone (1-4) battled back in the second quarter and went to the locker room down 27-22. After the break, the Lions came out in an aggressive press defense and pushed their lead to 13.

Luke Moore knocked in eight of his game high 21 points enroute to the win. Josh Martin had 16 points on the night, while Will Player added 10. Sam HillJennings led the Knights with 19 points.

“We played with discipline tonight offensively and defensively,” CCS head coach Marcus Dilligard said.
