State Library of North Carolina Announces Federal Grants to Local Schools and Libraries

CNHI

Wednesday, June 26, 2013 — RALEIGH -- The State Library of North Carolina is pleased to announce the 2013-2014 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant awardees. This year's $4,171,823 federal allotment will be distributed on behalf of North Carolina's libraries through programs and services available under the North Carolina LSTA Five-Year Plan. The 42 awards go to local library projects that

• advance literacy and lifelong learning

• expand access to library resources and expertise

• promote partnerships and collaboration

• and digitize materials important to the cultural heritage of North Carolina

This funding is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), a federal grant-making agency and is administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources. These federal funds are investments that help libraries deliver relevant and up-to-date services for their communities.
