Albemarle Police probe shooting death

Body in the hands of medical examiner

Sunday, December 29, 2013 — Albemarle police are conducting a death investigation.

Chief William Halliburton said Thursday night’s fatal shooting appears to be a self-inflicted accident.

The victim, who was home alone at the time, shot himself in the leg, Halliburton said.

The body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office for further investigation, Halliburton said.

The victim’s name is being withheld, pending additional information. As of the press deadline for the Sunday print edition, no further update was available.
